Pros

The pay at Menards varies but it can be beneficial. There is a cut off in hourly pay however, and they do not pay salary. Expect to make most of your money in bonuses (if you are a manager) or profit sharing. Profit sharing is probably the only benefit of working for Menards. If you make it up and some how stick to management you can make some big bucks. They can be flexible with hours if you request ahead of time. Hours are pretty decent if you are full time. During April or May thru Xmas. You can average 40 or more hours a week. If you are management expect to be working 50 or more. Paycheck can become excessively high. Extra $2.50 an hour on weekends.

Cons

1.) Too much favortism. Store management will promote certain team members that they like better than others. Some without any experience. 2.) You can be Department manager one day or General Manager one day and become demoted to a Full Time team member (non-mangement) or an assistant department manager (if you were a GM) I have seen it happen plenty of times. 3.) General Office Employees are SOOOOOO FAKE: They will be all cheery and super duper excited at semenars, but when they come and visit they are total opposite. 4.) Merchandising is a joke. All merchandising is sent down from corporate and they will have you change one thing one day and change it to something else the next day. Its so repetitive. Unless you are in management do not expect many benefits or bonuses (at all). Even then you get fined more than you do rewarded. You have to work for the company for like 10 years to receive 4 weeks of vacation. Almost 3 to 4 years just to get 2 weeks, and you have to be full time for 1 year. Part timers don't even get vacation or holiday pay.

Pros

Decent, if not slightly below average pay. On Thursdays there's a guy that will play music in the cafeteria.

Cons

If you are looking for stability and security, this is not the company for you. This company has no issues with walking you out for doing your job with zero notice. I had only received positive feedback about my work up until I was called into a meeting at the end of a work day and told I wasn't a good fit. There was absolutely zero warning my work wasn't meeting standards. In fact, I had been received multiple emails remarking on the high quality of my work provided. When I questioned what exactly about my work wasn't meeting the standards, zero information was given and I was met with a blank looks from both my previous manager and the HR representative present while reiterated the same line as before, a simple not meeting standards, The only thing I can think of that lead to this was me doing my job, as per my contract to provide effective copy and voicing my concern with the a format we were over using. During my short stay with this company I witnessed entire teams being walked out the week before bonus's were supposed to come out with as little notice as I received. The insurance the company provides may only be described as expensive dog water. There is zero mental health coverage as well as a high price tag for minimal coverage.
