Pros

Decent pay for people who can't find work elsewhere. Extra weekend pay. Not terribly taxing work. Kind of mindless, really. A nice job while searching for an internship.

Cons

EVERYONE is expected to be a salesperson. I hardly know the proper name of items I put on shelves, let alone what they do. Granted, it would be much easier if an employee worked construction or whatnot and knew the purpose of every type of screw, nail, nut, bolt, hinge, etc, but I sure don't. You pay for your own REQUIRED tools. Your flimsy ID badge costs $5 if it cracks. The 10% discount is for purchases that come out of your next paycheck, meaning you can't buy things that cost more than you can afford on any given week (regardless of how much you save up). Scheduling is confusing. My schedule is 6:30 AM to 9:30AM, yet I am expected to show up at 6:00. Apparently, we are not supposed to clock out when scheduled. Instead, it depends on the mood of your department manager. Guess you better not make plans for right after work! Organization is a mess. Products come in bulk and after completely filling an aisle, the overstock must go on top of the shelf. This implies carrying heavy boxes (like pesticides) up step ladders and lifting the box well over your head onto other boxes on the shelf. Seems a bit dangerous to me. Chances are, you may have to undo all that work the next day. Storage is more like taking a room full of crud, and stuffing it under the couch, rug, table, and wherever else you can find room.

Pros

getting paid is nice. But they expect you to do everyone elses work. But if you dont work hard enough you will be ignored. Which I guess is nice in the long run.

Cons

Menards micro manages way to much. If your the new guy look out you will do it all. 40 plus hour work weeks for part time is crazy stay till atleast 11 when scheduled till 9
