Pros

Gain lots of experience with many home and building materials. Lots to learn and you learn something new everyday.

Cons

Crazy management hours. Some nights you will work until 10 or later and will have to be back the following morning by 6:30 am. A lot of weight on your shoulders and not a very laid back company to work for.

Pros

Only Pros were the $2.50 weekend bonus and being able to buy store items through your PRD or payroll deduction and cheap work clothes available through the online Team member shopping.

Cons

They will say ANYTHING to get you hired, Very high turnover rate, terrible and hurried self training while having to handle hordes of rude guests(customers) and getting minimal help from teammates, only certain people get full time and they are over burdened and over worked plus must take on management duties when managers are not there plus get penalized back to part time if you don't get you 40 plus not allowed to work more than two weekends a month, part timers are treated 10x worse, they are always being promised full time and never get it, plus they make $2 less on the hour than the full timers while doing twice the work, as a part timer you are treated as a subhuman slave while having to run your butt off. All employees rarely get their breaks, the break room is on the 2nd floor and you have to go up 2 flights to get there and it takes 2-3 minutes just to walk to the break room while dodging customers if your lucky you get to sit down for 3-4 minutes before walking 2-3 back to your Dept plus you have no privacy in the break room which is wide open and can be seen from managers desk plus there are cameras and microphones right by break room tables to watch and listen, also no refrigerator if you want to bring food for lunch, always short staffed for the HORDES of customers flocking in, you get no commissions on sales I sold $550k in product and no commission and very low wage, also bring in you kids who goof off and make more money than those with more experience Managers are OVERWELMED and UNDERTRAINED and work 60+ hours, they have that Zoned out Zombie look plus they have to carry a phone for customer calls and headset for in store calls while helping guests in store and General Managers yelling over interconnected to get help for a guest in an aisle a football field away. Another drawback is you have to walk guests from one end to another, if you don't you will get written up..I went through 3pairs of thick..expensive running shoes plus injured my foot...still hasn't healed...this place is HELL on EARTH..Avoid it like the plague, my neighbors son got a job in their lumber yard and they worked him in -20f for 8hrs..he got frostbite and hyperthermia....go anywhere but here...John Menard is Greedy and don't care about his employees and loves to DEMOTE for slightest infractions plus he is very paranoid about THEFT!! Very LOW morale and NO company meetings or social gatherings! Also Sales Associates can't focus on customers when they are putting up ads and stocking...EVERYONE loses.

Pros

Employees and Managers are nice.

Cons

Lower Benefits to Management. Keeps getting lower. Get screwed by part time team members.
