Pros

Work hard lose weight. Some stores are friendly. Easy to advance. Good health care.

Cons

When HR says in your orientation not to solve problems or if you come up with an innovation, leave the company, you have a problem. Worked almost 3000 hrs. in a year. 60+ hours norm for managers up to 80+ and 100 hr work weeks not uncommon. No sleep, no time off, when you get time off you sleep and rest from working hard for 10 to 16 hrs.

Pros

an extra $2.50 on the weekends. you work so much that you gain a great work family

Cons

I was a front end manager for about 2 years. My weekend shifts from Fri-Sun I worked 38 hours!!! And still had to come in on Monday at 6am majority of shifts are 10+ hours They sell you on the bonuses......what they don't tell you is that they are taxed as a gift so that $1000 bonus ends up only being about $600. They can decide at any time to just make you work your day off(if you are in management) There are a lot of people that work there that have only worked there so they don't know any better and think it is a great place.......I can tell you with extreme confidence that this is a terrible company to work for. Vacation is TERRIBLE, health was outrageous

Pros

-The employees you'll run into at the store level are fantastic, hard-working people. -Store management will typically go out of their way to accommodate availability. -Opportunities for promotion are numerous.

Cons

-Greatly underpay employees. -Corporate office is disconnected from store level issues. -Hours are insane for department and store managers. -Work life balance for department managers and above is absolutely awful to the point that you will hate your life. -Dedicated, long-time employees are treated terribly compared to other similar companies. -Menards requires store managers to move constantly if they want to be promoted in a timely manner. This adversely effects families.
