Pros

Brilliant, creative minds walk the halls. Most talented group of artists around. Can bring dogs to work. Lots of snacks. Competitive pay.

Cons

You will be worked to the bone if you allow it. There is no regard for morale, only deadlines. Prepare for 60-70 hour work weeks, even moreso now that half the company is gone. Its common knowledge that the company lied to 250+ employees about the mass layoffs in early 2020. The layoffs were not a result of CoVID19, they were planned since 2019 and were a condition of the outside investors injecting funds into the company. New execs were brought in during the summer and their contact lists were milked for outsourcing leads. The "founders and CEOs" decided to pull the trigger on the plan early and blamed CoVID19's closing of the exhibit. Now the entirety of Meow Wolf art is almost completely outsourced to third-party construction firms. The CEOs have absolutely no clue about the importance of the artists within and are focused entirely on profit. Thus the entire foundation of the Meow Wolf vision has been reversed to become another generic themed entertainment chain. There are no opportunities for advancement. Your job will either be eliminated or you quit. HR complaints are dealt with in hostile, flippant manner by execs.

A Management Nightmare

Pros

We made amazing art experiences for people, the people who work there or worked there were very talented and I loved my project based co-workers

Cons

Upper Management is a NIGHTMARE. They dont listen to anyone, they are trying to make this special company like a Disney Clone. During my 2+ years there they mismanaged not only their millions of dollars in funding but also talented, experienced and qualified insiders by refusing to listen to them when they raised concerns.

Pros

The original culture and the amazing people made this a dream job.

Cons

Poor leadership and communication across the board. Also, for those who are part of the in clique, there is no accountability. Then to top it off, Disney execs were brought in and they made no effort to evaluate employees and learn about their human assets. Instead they started hiring outside firms who they had worked with before to do the work, costing a lot more money and putting the company in more financial distress. And now they have laid off 200+ employees under the guise of Covid-19, many of whom moved to Santa Fe for this job, and now are left isolated with minimal prospects during a pandemic.
