Pros

Mercer has an amazing environment of talented, smart people, and one of the friendliest environments I've had the opportunity to be a part of.

Cons

Compensation is well below market rate, and isn't based on merit. Mercer has a tendency to retain people that are known low performers, while the extra workload is transferred to peers. There's an obvious imbalance in workloads, yet compensation doesn't reflect that as low performers are rewarded on the same basis as high performers.

Pros

Great collaboration and opportunity to grow. Decent benefits and work flexibility.

Cons

Little or no raises to go along with significant increases in goals each year. Almost guarantees majority won’t hit it. Turnover rate adds more pressure each year.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and concerns - and most importantly for your commitment to Mercer for more than 10 years. As a global company, we work toward goals that represent the collective success of Mercer across all of our global locations. We are happy to hear that you have experienced opportunities to grow at Mercer and are enjoying the benefits and flexibility we offer to our colleagues. Regarding our goals and compensation, we strive to operate as One Mercer in everything we do. We always have room to improve, but we do place a great deal of value sharing our successes across our businesses. There are many factors that sit between the goals we set for our overall business and the goals that are set at an individual level – but one common theme prevails which is to reward our talent fairly and transparently. I encourage you to connect with your direct manager to gain a better understanding of our rewards processes if they are unclear. You can also send an email to ColleagueFeedback@Mercer.com to share further context on your questions and concerns. Thank you again for taking the time to provide this feedback.

Pros

The best aspect of the role (Sr. Analyst) were the legacy employees who were able to help bridge the gap between the systems in use and the documentation that did not cover that knowledge gap.

Cons

-the layoff of all of those legacy employees -lack of coherent documentation -the “we’ll get ‘em next year” attitude from senior management during town halls -the bonuses senior management were able to give themselves even though earning were down -the flat pay increases (less than cost of living increase) -promotions were frequently based on “it’s your turn” rather than actual ability -micromanagement by several mid-level managers
