Pros

If you work hard and perform well, Mercer is extremely flexible with your work arrangements and will work with you.

Cons

Raises and merit increases are an uphill battle for those already within the firm, including for promotions. The best way to get better pay is to leverage outside offers.

Pros

Good Cafeteria, work at home opportunities

Cons

Management makes numbers by cutting bonuses year over year. In my last two years at Mercer I calculated that they paid $20K less than what was promised at the time of hiring. Although I left the company, the cashflow still hurts. What hurts more is the loss of trust and complete disregard of sacrifices made by all of my co workers.

San Francisco Location is the worst office ever

Pros

The view from the office of the San Francisco Bay.

Cons

Everything. This office has the mentality of churn and burn. If you have a life outside of work and are looking to have a work/life balance, this is not the right fit for you. If you do not work overtime then you are slacking. The "People Managers" have no experience managing employees. Office and Department Leaders gossip about their most loyal employees and expect them to work like dogs to keep the business going. There is not a Human Resources Partner onsite so this office struggles with a lot of HR issues including legal. Others in this industry and in the Bay Area know what legal issues this office is facing. Clients should research this office and see how they treat their employees before doing business with them. Client teams are always understaffed because everyone is leaving. If they haven't left yet then they are in process of looking for a new job. This office likes to "promote" Analysts to Associates to take away of their hourly pay so they do not have to pay them for their hours they actually worked. This office likes to throw money at people to try and get them to stay. To top things off, 3 office leaders left the company in 2017 to start their own consulting company and their motto is "People Matter" something that doesn't matter to the San Francisco Mercer Office.
