Pros

Experts in the field, intellectual capital everywhere, best of the best and bring solid solutions to their clients. Mercer is respected in the employee benefits community. Mercer allows you to work in client teams and as an individual professional bringing your experience and expertise to the team.

Cons

Work/Life balance is mentioned but not practiced. Meeting the client's needs are more important than the employee's "balance" needs.

Pros

Mercer provides very good growth opportunities, but you have to be proactive in grabbing them. The senior consultants are very proffesionalism and most are patient and great teachers. The leadership at local office has ups and downs, but recently (2008-2009), the leadership has really turned around for the positive.

Cons

Expect very long, unpredictable hours. There is very high pressure and stress related to client work and revenue pressures. Clients can be very demanding - but that is the business we're in.

Pros

The best reason to work at Mercer is because of the other people who work at Mercer! They are smart people who are extremely dedicated to helping their clients to be successful.

Cons

Senior management is a big mystery. The CEO never communicates to anyone (because she should be the CFO not the CEO). Many of the long-service people have left or have been fired. They are taking us on a journey somewhere, but they haven't told us where we're going. Not as much fun as it used to be.
