Pros

As an admissions counselor you get to travel and talk about the school. You also learn skills such as sales, budget, etc. Had a good time doing this but it is not something to do forever. You also get a lot of freedom in the office.

Cons

Lack of upward mobility Low pay work weekends dealing with 16-18 year old prospective students can get annoying lack of professional development

Pros

I had the pleasure of working at Mercer, a workplace characterized by its outstanding community and exceptional employees. The sense of camaraderie and mutual support among the staff created a highly motivating and positive environment. Collaboration was encouraged, and everyone was always willing to lend a hand or share their expertise. This strong sense of community not only enhanced productivity but also made each day enjoyable. The company's commitment to employee well-being and development was evident in its open communication, regular team-building activities, and opportunities for professional growth. Overall, Mercer stands out as an exemplary workplace where great community and remarkable employees drive success and satisfaction.

Cons

My experience at Mercer was overshadowed by the ineffective management that created numerous challenges and stifled growth for both the company and its employees. The management team frequently made poor decisions without consulting staff or considering their impact, leading to confusion and frustration. There was a lack of clear direction and support, and communication was often inconsistent and unhelpful. Opportunities for professional development were scarce, and any attempts to introduce new ideas or improvements were quickly shut down. This restrictive environment not only hindered the company's progress but also demoralized the workforce, making it difficult to stay motivated and engaged. Overall, the poor management at Mercer significantly impeded both organizational and individual growth.

Pros

Great staff and collaborative faculty. The students are eager to connect and learn from you.

Cons

Salaries aren't competitive and little opportunity for promotion. Senior management doesn't always value their staff who are doing great work supporting the students and the university. Junior management is expected to take on additional responsibilities with little or no additional compensation.
