Pros

Good benefits package. Friendly people. Easy to transfer to different branches or states. The bonuses are really good. Salary is okay.

Cons

The raises are laughable, especially when compared to other companies. Lots of work and little respect. Upper management has their own little clique. If you're not part of that group, forget about being treated fairly. The lack of knowledge amongst some supervisors is astonishing. Forget about promoting unless you're "in" with the clique. Promote people they like, not necessarily skill level.

Pros

Coworkers were generally very nice and down to earth, from the claims staff to the senior managers. Benefits and vacation time was mostly in line with what I have come to expect from large companies. Work was generally fulfilling and could be somewhat challenging.

Cons

Serious doubts were cast onto the company by a lack of solid direction and leadership. The senior management was generally not open to new ideas, and when they were, failed to execute and follow through with a great deal of their plans. Additionally, the base salaries for most poisitions in the company, were far below industry averages. Finally, there was a great deal of waste, whether it be on poorly thoughtout technology products, to the inability to identify and eliminate ineffective employee's.

Pros

Casual dress Lots of Potlucks decent benefits

Cons

Management is very disconnected from adjusters and examiners daily tasks/workload Software and office equipment is outdated by at least 10 years Claim procedures change every few months, and there is no continuity on procedures as every supervisor and manager has a different answer. Mercury has so many requirements as far as unneccessary claim tasks, that it cause higher workload, slower turnaround time on closing claims, and DOI requirements get thrown out the window. Unethical claims handling very low morale, almost everyone I knew wants to quit or is interviewing for other jobs.
