Pros

Not much of anything I can think of. Some good lower level employees but don't count on them staying long.

Cons

Upper management is absolutely atrocious. There is no room for growth, there is no respect for employees and their basic needs, the college as a whole is VERY out of compliance with federal regulations for higher educational institutions, they have the tendency to hire for one position and then put you in a different place. No wonder there is a union and no one wants to apply for any director positions (not that they would get them since they seem to think promoting from within is a terrible idea).

Pros

-- You may work with a nice and helpful team depending on the position. -- Minimal amount is required to pay for graduate education.

Cons

-- The academic adviser (PACT), financial aid and admission departments are the worst departments to work for and have high turnover. -- The management teams for each of the above departments are a joke. They lack real leadership and know-how. It is almost comical to see them in action (rather inaction). -- They hire poorly and are inept in cultivating staff. -- They promote based on unsound reasons. -- They browbeat the staff in producing fictitious results (i.e. registration, academic progress, career, graduation rates etc.) -- There is no advocacy for faculty and union members. -- The new president only cares about registration numbers and passing poor performing students along to make the board members happy. -- PR outright asked staff to not post negative reviews on Glassdoor. Read the positive reviews with a grain of salt.

Pros

Meeting people / networking and learning the run around of higher ed is always a great thing and of course tuition remission which you still have to pay into anyway how ever thats it.

Cons

There is no organization here at Mercy College. Especially for the ones lower end of the totem poll. Who end up being the ones who do most of the work for the college to function. They need to pay their staff more for what they ask them to do. It's equivalent to minimum wage. Absurd. Zero organization and other departments start blaming other departments for things not getting done properly which then leads to everyone stressing out and taking it out upon one another. Everything has become just a cluster of nonsense. Everyone is miserable. And not friendly what so ever!
