Pros

I have nothing good to say about working at Mercy. They have a bait and switch policy of recruiting people to work - they bait you with promises of one position and they switch it up on you once you have joined - the department I was supposed to work for and my supervisor were changed the first day I arrived for work...

Cons

Long hours, put up and shut up attitude of management, and general feeling of constant unease since everone was basically plotting their exit strategies. Never felt that management was there to encourage and help with achieving goals - rather they set unrealistic goals and expected you to reach them - no questions asked.

Pros

Colleagues - Many of them truly love the institution, believe in the mission and care about the students.

Cons

Upper Management - The leaders of the institution have panicked and made many drastic changes. People without admissions or enrollment experience are running the institution. Leadership hired people with for-profit backgrounds who are treating education as if it was a car sales job. It went from recruiting students to the college to "changing" their minds. In addition, it is now like a telemarketing/ car sales position instead of a counseling role. Remember it is a nonprofit institution, not a "sales" job. Job stability - many colleagues quit right away and the turnover is unbelievable. Colleagues who work there fear for their jobs, but don't say a word. Hopefully human resources will catch on as more employees resign. Pay - unreasonable pay for the amount of expected work Miscellanous - If you want to be part of place where you fear for your job - this is the right place to go.

Pros

Co-workers are great, campus is nice, tuition remission for those looking to further their education

Cons

The pact program is poorly directed. The decisions being made are not in the employees best interest. The director does not care about his employees and feels that everyone is replaceable. Horrible employee turnover and the director does not care. Salary is bad. Benefits are average. The only way to move up at this school is to be good friends with the director. Education and experience does not matter unless you are friends with the director. And if you work at any other campus besides the main one you are isolated and treated poorly compared to those who work at the main campus where the director is at. The worse part is that you can't complain to anyone because the director is friends with everyone in leadership (human resources, union rep, deans, provost)
