Pros

Work life balance. Pick your own schedule.

Cons

Low pay. Coders start at $27. Didn’t accept negotiation. Paid biweekly.

Pros

Flexible hours and the work is straightforward and easy. It's an honorable job where you are helping people. Decent place to work part time if you are in school or close to retirement. Air conditioned and clean.

Cons

Pay is mediocre and a lot of the staff there can be very rude and unprofessional. Not all of them but a lot of them. Coworkers in department will actively avoid work creating an uneven workload between employees. No yearly raises or room for growth. It's just a job.

Pros

Great work culture, Very patient forward at my particular hospital. Have a great manager who is very supportive. Grandfathered into the student loan repayment program, though now discontinued.

Cons

Compensation is relatively low at the hospital. Health insurance leaves you wanting. Not many opportunities for career advancement in the laboratory field (though this is a problem with the field in general). Has outsourced a lot of services to third parties which can be a mess to deal with, such as HR, EVS, IT, etc.
