Pros

Competitive salary and benefits package

Cons

Very toxic working environment in the office where I worked . There was a complete turnover of providers and supportive staff within 1 year. Did not feel valued as a provider or an individual in any way. Culture is management vs employee.

Pros

My family has always used Mercy as our primary health provider for about three generations. Most of the employees are very helpful and have a passion for patients.

Cons

I worked in the IT portion of the business. As a non-profit organization we were often required to work very long hours, take on-call, and be expected to travel with little to none advanced notice. In other words, there was always a very high demand on the employees with very little pay or recognition.

Autocratic

Pros

This is no doubt that most autocratic organization I've ever worked at. I had thought that organizations managed like this were only from bygone eras but the autocratic management style thrives at Mercy. What does this mean? It means that it is centrally managed and trivial decisions are made at high levels. Information and instructions are passed ONLY down. NEVER upward. Senior and mid level meetings consist of the most senior associate passing instructions to more junior associates. Little or no discussion. No back and forth. This is probably good for entry level people who want to learn quickly and have small salary requirements. Management can quickly replace one junior engineer with another.

Cons

If you want to work with senior and very smart people, this is not the place. Neither the salary nor culture provide any incentive to stay once you have reached a strong level of competency.
