Pros

The Management staff tend to be understanding; your coworkers, even outside of your unit, start to feel like family; scheduling is pretty flexible, there are tons of opportunity to grow.

Cons

Chronically unorganized and inefficient with any and all changes, lots of change for the sake of change, poor nurse to patient ratios hurt the whole team, administration can get hung up in insignificant details while turning a blind eye to the suggestions of its ground floor workers.

Pros

PTO is probably the #1 reason to work for Mercy. If you're terrible at your job, and have no motivation whatsoever other than to collect a paycheck, then this is the company for you. A person basically has to murder somebody to get fired there - and there's still a chance that they won't!

Cons

The benefits are garbage for a healthcare company. I paid $1200 out-of-pocket for an MRI at the same hospital I worked at (with the top tier benefits package), and went out of network 4 months later for the same MRI with the out-of-pocket cost at $450. When layoff time comes around (and it will), senior management looks to decrease salaries and services as opposed to axing the worst employees in each department.
