Getting worse

Pros

PTO Most staff at hospital are great to work with

Cons

Petty people far outnumber the staff that's great to work for. Benefits are ok, unless you have to see a specialist or need ongoing testing Pay is not competitive. Annual increases are a joke. Especially if you've been there a while. New hires in less skilled positions can make more than the skilled employees that have been around a while. Management is more concerned about presentation than how well you do your job. Everytime there are new owners, everything gets worse. Trinity has been a disaster.

Great co-workers

Pros

I loved working here. I had previously worked at a big academic medical center and was just so burned out. Mercy in Dubuque was definitely a real community-hospital feeling, everyone knows everyone and some staff have been at the hospital for 20 or more years. I left after two years due to a change in family circumstances, but otherwise I would happily have stayed.

Cons

Low wages and poor management.

Pros

Nice people, that always say hello each day

Cons

Mercy is to low in wages unless you are a nurse. Can make more at the local gas station. Only 6 paid holidays. Upper management gets better medical benefits from one policy and the rest of employees get another type of medical benefit policy. Also they have streamlined how many employee work in each department and puts real hardship on the few employees that do work in a department
