Pros
The PTO increases after 5 years
Cons
There are so many bad things it’s hard to list them all, but I’ll try. 1) The pay is extremely low for the industry. They make up for that by sponsoring a ton of work visas for immigrants. This traps many people in a low wage position in a very expensive area. 2) the hiring process takes months. The CEO has to sign off on every expense over $50. So if they want to hire someone he has to approve it. 3) They fire people just before The holidays. In December everyone’s anxiety gets really high because the CEO will ask for a list of people to fire if company business is down. It’s very odd because they announce the fired people, then throw a lavish holiday party to help employees forget about their co-workers getting fired. 4) The benefits suck. Your health care benefits are standard in the industry, but 401k match is the lowest I have ever seen. They do lie about tuition Reimbursement to perspective employees. I have seen them do it, and heard stories from senior employees. They don’t have a Tuition reimbursement program so it gives people false hope. 5) there is an overwhelming amount of work everyday that you MUST finish. If you don’t you get in trouble. 6)Every single analyst has a schedule put together for them everyday, and that schedule can change in the middle of the day. It makes it hard to plan ahead. 7) They don’t enforce a professional environment. Many employees are young and will make Inappropriate comments to opposite sex co-workers. Overall, I truly feel like I wasted years working here. MSD only offers their employee one type of skill, and that’s immunoassay. If you spend too much time at the company you become less marketable to other companies that want a more diverse skill set.
