There is little connection to a company culture or to the Metis name or brand. Metis is structured such that all of its employees work inside of government contracts, so the workflow will come from the contracts, not Metis. In other words, Metis is typically a subcontractor providing employees to prime contractors. I have coworkers who are also Metis employees, but we all report to managers who work for a different company. This doesn't much matter on the day to day, but when it comes time for promotions, the need to renegotiate contracts and/or change employers causes difficulty.

Advancement structure is a bit nebulous.
