Some pros, but many underlying internal practices that frustrate

Pros

There's a lot of effort made to create a fun/open workspace, and it shows. The facility is nice and there are plenty of in and out of office events to look forward to. There are many talented and diverse workers at HQ, and there are opportunities within MetroStar to change roles or try new things. There were periods where workloads were balanced, and morale was good.

Cons

Salary was well under industry average for my position and did not increase. I got the sense that compensation varied wildly across the organization. Management tended to be inconsistent and often lacked empathy for employees, resulting in certain high-demand teams and employees being burnt out through overwork - resulting in morale problems and turn over. Many of the company's current successes are the product of employees that burnt themselves out and left the organization over the last few years. There were repeated cycles where certain management and leadership roles did not want to engage on projects or assignments that needed their input, but would still get angry at employees when the final product wasn't up to par. Some employees could get away with denying assistance or information to other teams simply because they didn't want to be bothered, and at least one of them is now at the Director level. Company culture can be difficult to navigate due to the number of college friends or relatives working on the executive side of the office. There has also been a surfeit of promotions to Director/VP levels, resulting in a very top heavy organization. And finally, the motivating factor for posting this review, is the internal campaign for positive reviews on Glassdoor. There's a reason for the flood of ONLY 5-star reviews over the last 6 mo., and it's not because of a radical shift in business practices or priorities.

Pros

The following opinion is based on working outside the corporate location. I have huge sympathy for those who are overworked and underpaid, as I experienced that early in my career. With that said, this is my experience with MSS so far: -Onsite management cares about your well-being and growth. -Interesting and meaningful projects with broad impact. -Work-life balance is a real thing. -Colleagues are easy-going, collaborative, and helpful. -Corporate HQ looks like the east coast version of a Silicon Valley office. -Great networking opportunities. -HR is responsive and helpful with questions and issues. -Pay is at market rate for my position and experience. Work-life balance is #1 for me, so that takes precedent over other positions that pay more but overwork their employees. Not about that life anymore.

Cons

-Cultural divide between those who work at client sites and corporate HQ. -A bit vague on the bonus structure. If the perception of performance is connected to a measurable definition, the clarity could mitigate morale issues for employees.
