Pros

MetroStar is a place for problem solvers and collaborators. It is a small business that is growing up and positioning itself to be a leader and really differentiate itself from the other companies in the DC Metro area. There are very few companies that empower employees of all levels to contribute and speak up about anything from projects, to opportunities, to corporate direction. With the growth from a small to large business there are definitely growing pains associated with scaling, upward mobility for employees, standardization of process, etc. Each of these items are part of regular discussions with management to improve upon. There are also very few places that have an open door policy with senior leadership like MetroStar has. The executives are engaged and talk with employees on daily basis. In the time I have been part of the MetroStar team I have seen tremendous positive growth and am proud to be a part of where the company is going and excited about the future.

Cons

There is a different culture with the employees that work onsite vs HQ (which is a challenge most companies face) I've experienced this very challenge at previous companies and MetroStar is at least trying different ways to actively engage employees throughout the company. Because people wear many hats there is a lot juggling as the company grows (especially among leads), this type of environment benefits employees that are outspoken. Employees that are more reserved tend to not be heard as much. The practice and team lead structure that is in place really helps make sure all the employees are receiving technical direction and mentoring but the level of engagement depends on all the other demands they are dealing with at the time.

Pros

You will be saving the company a boat load of money by accepting a lower salary.

Cons

Management. Fake glassdoor posts by upper management. A few times a year, there will be an exodus of unhappy people leaving the company. Two years in a row most employees did not get a raise due to the fact the money was going to the sister company "zoomph". We know because we talk. They try to get you to stay with a weak raise. Everyone is underpaid and severely over-worked. The CEO loves to make promises of sharing stocks in his company in return for 40 extra hours a week. In the end you get nothing or something ridiculous such as 1% if you stay for 4 years. The CEO gets angry when people leave at 5. The president judges people based on appearances and accents and shares it with selected people in the company. They hire good hearted people.
