There is a lot of great benefits associated with working for the County. This is an employer you can work for for 30+ years' shall you choose to and a lot of people do.

Cons

Since most people are long term employees, oppurtunities for promotions can be difficult. In addition, hard work is not taken into account for potential promotions within the County.

overtime available, great coworkers, flexibility of schedule, good benefits.

Cons

occupational hazards, I have to pay out of pocket for acupuncture/hot yoga for pain relief for an on the job injury i had two years ago. you work holidays and don't see your family. the stress affects your mood and relationships.
