Educated coworkers and a purposeful place

Pros

Good camaraderie among coworkers, educated professionals make this a place have worked for. Efforts to assist the community also allow for daily personal motivation. Stability in the work place and flexible hours offer additional reasons for working at here.

Cons

Salary and incentive cutbacks for balancing county budgets have made this more difficult on employees. All the while The Miami Herald reports expenditures and monetary gifts, make for more questionable reasons. New management brought in, and highly bureaucratic environments sometime allow for those to attain decision making positions. Some of which are either incompetent or lazy career bureaucrats.

Pros

Stability is the main advantage as with most government organizations. But also, if you are civic minded, you may well get opportunities to do some good for the world (of Miami Dade) and perhaps improve a little on how the county services its citizens.

Cons

There are no incentives for innovations. Management positions are attained usually through intrigues, back stabbing. Highly incompetent, lazy and corrupt career bureaucrats end up at decision making positions which makes for a very toxic environment, unless you are somehow shielded from them.

Great salary compensation, with a decent retirement plan.

Cons

The supervisors and administrators breed misery, if you are in a position and you're happy and doing well; they transfer you. They haven't figured out that when an employee is happy the provide better service.
