Pros

-Great people! -Great discount(50% off FP, 20% on sale... even better discount when they do employee appreciation) -Great Benefits -They have some amazing people who work here whom are dedicated, loyal, and charismatic!

Cons

-Work environment -Turnaround with Management -Turnaround with employee -minimum wage for associate - due to negative reviews on Glassdoor the company wanted management to”possibly” write positive reviews. -due to covid everyone received a 20% salary decrease which seems will be indefinite, everyone was paid for vacation and personal days and will no longer be able to earn vacation, sick, personal. - all District boutique managers were let go. - 3 senior Managers like MK, John idol, and etc donated One million each to covid the day before they furloughed all employees and read us a prepared speech they then wanted us to read to fellow employees after saying they didn’t know what their plan was.... ha!great PR! -MK believes in a bottom line and reaching it!

Thank you for your hard work and dedication. The decision to terminate any employee as a result of this global crisis was not one that we took lightly. As a company we are doing our best to navigate the profound and unprecedented changes resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. We value our employees and understand that they are the key to our success. Again, thank you for your service to the company and we wish you the very best. - Michael Kors Human Resources

Pros

Commission during holiday some of your colleagues Building Clientele and selling skills Collection of MK wardrobe Great on your resume

Cons

Working at MK was very awkward for me. I worked there for about 2 years and at first I loved my new job, but sadly that came to a distributing halt. The environment is extremely catty and unfair in so many ways. There was a lot of unethical practices on and off of the sales floor. To top it off there was a TON of discrimination towards me (not trying to pull the race card but it was extremely prevalent to anyone looking from the outside in) and there were a lot of discriminatory remarks made towards me as well. 1. I will start off with the pay. Before I began working at MK as a Sales Associate I had a generous amount of retail experience to back me up, and I was started off at $12.00 an hour. The other two girls who I was hired on with (both non minorities with only volunteer work experience) were getting paid $13.50/$14.40 which discouraged me at the time but I was grateful having Michael Kors as a job. 2. Commission was a hit or miss, especially during certain seasons. With MK being a commission environment it was definitely catty sometimes, but getting your sales deliberately stolen from a SUPERVISOR was extremely unacceptable and proves that there is NO integrity in some of the workers in this company. When I worked at MK (2017) Commission ranged from 1%-5% depending on your sales. 3. Hours were SO trash and they literally gave me leftover hours. SO I would work 10-13 hours a week. Then when holiday approaches and everyone BUT ME gets their requested time off Im DROWNED with hours. hmm. Interesting. ALSO ALL OF MY TIME REQUESTS WERE DENIED. I didn't spend Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years and ALMOST my Birthday (they really tried it) with my friends & family. 4. WARDROBE. We were to dress in MK clothing and shoes. Wearing those ATROCIOUS clothing and then getting ridiculed about your but being too big in all of the clothes was annoying and vexed me at times. ON TOP OF BEING FORCED TO WEAR THE MERCHANDISE, you were taxed on the clothes they gave you.. so it was definitely not free. If that was the case I should just be able to wear all black and keep it pushing.. I barely work anyways. 5. Lastly the management was lacking leadership skills. Non ethical practices were always happening on the sales floor. You would be talked to like you were an idiot and I would get a lot of racial slurs from my co-workers and supervisors: "your butt is making your dress rise up its inappropriate" "your hair is frizzy (Afro) go to the back and fix it" "you look tired go put some makeup on" HUH?! EXTREMELY Inappropriate for sales professionals. Im done ranting. MK did teach me skills that I have took to other companies and flourished in, but my experience was definitely not pleasant.

Pros

Some great store-level teammates who are doing their best despite the circumstances.

Cons

Cons: Leadership & Bias: The company and particularly the district management level is heavily influenced by favoritism. Many decisions aren't based on performance or data; they are arbitrary and subjective, creating a difficult environment to navigate. Toxic Corporate Strategy: A recent C-suite addition has shifted the strategy toward "squeezing" employees. Incentive goals have been intentionally moved out of reach to avoid payouts. Even more concerning is the apparent effort to push out experienced managers in favor of younger, less-experienced replacements who will accept significantly lower pay. This has absolutely decimated morale and created a toxic, "revolving door" culture. The "Identity Crisis": Leadership blames store teams for declining sales, refusing to acknowledge the reality: the brand is oversaturated and has lost its relevance in today's culture. Instead of innovating, the company is stuck in a perpetual identity crisis, churning out repetitive styles that are clearly just lower-quality copies of more influential brands. Management Blind Spots: There is a massive disconnect between the corporate office and the reality of the market. They are blaming the frontline for a failure of brand vision and product design. Devaluation of the Brand: The constant reliance on deep discounts and the emphasis on outlet merchandise is a race to the bottom. Management is teaching the customer never to pay full price and effectively cheapening the brand's image. Bottom Line: I cannot recommend working here. It’s a brand struggling for relevance that treats its most loyal employees as expendable overhead. I feel compelled to share my perspective regarding the company's current rating, as I believe there is a significant disconnect between our online presence and the actual, daily experience of employees on the floor. Having spoken with many colleagues across various store locations, the general sentiment regarding our work environment is far more critical than the aggregate score on this site would suggest. It is worth noting that the company appears to prioritize reputation management, often creating 'review drives' or actively soliciting feedback to boost their metrics. Because of these efforts, the current ratings feel curated rather than organic. For those considering joining the team, I highly recommend looking past the overall score and paying close attention to the specific, detailed comments from employees. The daily reality for many of us is quite different from the narrative presented through these incentivized efforts, and it is important for prospective candidates to have a full, unfiltered picture of the culture before making a decision.
