Pros

Learned a ton, treated well, I'm very fortunate to have the experience they offered me in order to get a professional position.

Cons

A little too nice, sometimes they aren't stern enough to actually force one to begin working. However, this is also a nice thing, as you are never punished.

Pros

One of the best small office environments I have ever work in. Management definitely has the employee's best interest in mind.

Cons

As with any large organization, the amount of paperwork and time to complete simple tasks can be at times overbearing.

Pros

Fantastic benefits are a huge plus working at a public university. MSU provides health, dental, substantial 403b matching (the nonprofit version of a 401k) and generous vacation time which increases as you gain years of service. Other fringe benefits include half tuition for any dependent children you have who attend MSU, 14 credits/year of free tuition for support staff employees (at any school in the state!), discounts on area services, and more. MSU has a beautiful campus and is honestly it's a pleasure to head into work every morning.

Cons

As a whole MSU is somewhat discombobulated - being a large university can do that. Also, it seems odd that there's no vision insurance offered - that's something I really wish they had. One other downside is that career advancement can depend on the department you're employed in - a smaller department won't offer as many opportunities without first needing a lateral transfer of some kind.
