Pros

We have a great group of guys, most of the team meets regularly outside of work to spend more time together. There's also a big enough team that we don't see the same guys every day. As far as customers go we have a lot of interesting people who come in that can be fun to interact with. We get commission on everything they buy so its easy to just have a conversation help them find what they are looking for a move on. It never feels like I have to upsell or pressure them to buy something so I can get a good paycheck. We also have the option to work 5 - 8 hour shifts or 4 - 10 hours shifts with 3 off days.

Cons

Some customers smell, your pay will be directly reflected on how you interact with customers. So if you are not warm, inviting, and able to sell your experience might very from mine.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feelings with us and for this 5-star review! As you mentioned a flexible schedule is one of the many benefits of working at Micro Center. Being a sales associate, you hit the nail right on the head, your pay will reflect how you interact with our customers. When you're in a customer facing job, we can't help who shops in our stores however we can provide great customer service. So glad to hear that you treat all our guest with respect, kindness and knowledge. Keep up the great work! Sincerely Leslie Whitley, Regional HR.

Pros

If you are able to work with a decent crew in the service center and have a great manager, it would be a decent job to be at to start in I.T. or just getting into computers in general. You will learn how to respond to customers and co workers alike.

Cons

You will get overworked and overwhelmed fairly quick as it is sometimes hard to keep people due to internal politics. Hours tend to be weird as they change every so often and weekends are gone unless you have certain priorities you must attend to. It is best to learn on your own about computers and then apply. Getting the CompTIA A+ is best before you get in, although if you do get in without it, you have 90 days to retrieve it with the company paying for it. With the large volume of customers, it will be hard to do.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We're glad you enjoyed working with your co-workers and manager at Micro Center. We hire associates based on the business needs and we try to fill openings in timely manner. Our PA team tries to work with everyone's schedule as best they can, and weekends rotate with Sundays starting the week. Getting your A+ before you apply for a tech job with us is good advice, however as stated we do allow you 90 days to get up to speed. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Leslie Whitley, Regional HR.

Thanks so much for your kind words and the 5-star review! I am glad things are progressing well for you. At Micro Center, we have a learning culture that allows our associates the best possible training which allows us to take care of our customers. People travel a great distance to buy great products but more importantly to interact with the best sales associates in the business. We are very fortunate to have people like yourself and the leadership teams that make us the go-to in consumer electronics. Best, Greg Nicolai Human Resources Business Partner - 513-344-8018
