Pros

- Customers are often really cool - You work at nerd Mecca so you learn a lot - The pay isn't too bad and with commission you can get a few extra $ a day. - You can enter fake emails and addresses and nobody will know.

Cons

- The management will bother you if you don't haggle customers into buying warranties, and getting personal information to spam they don't want or need. - Customers get really mad when you haggle them. - Selling warranties is unethical when most products microcenter sells come with warranties from the manufacturer.

Hello. Our goal is to ensure that we provide the best possible solutions for our customers and to ensure that we have accurate customer information to better serve them. Our system allows us to monitor customer data that is entered and falsification of that data is not tolerated. The Service Plans our associates offer provide different coverage than a standard product warranty and we find that some customers feel more confident in their purchase when they have the additional security of a warranty. The most important requirement of our associates is that they always act with integrity and knowledge. If would you like to further discuss your employment experience, please call our HR office and ask for me by name. Thank you Jennifer Corporate Recruiting Manager 614-850-3150

Pros

You get to be surrounded by some of the coolest and newest tech on the market. Get trained on how to use them and how they work. Pay can be good potentially be good depending on your department. Benefits are really decent compared to other companies.

Cons

Ive worked there for 3 + years and work life balance is terrible! They want you to be available as much as possible and will slay you with hours. They also so not respect religious obligations and I would need to work Sundays or go part time. Also that I would have to deal with it or find another job simply because my beliefs which is discrimination. You will be asked to come on your days off to work and will be shamed of you do not comply. Turnover rate is super high and being understaffed and over worked is a huge issue. It would be great if you were paid well for your time but you get paid 4 dollars an hour when the store isn't open. So if your in sales and you start at 7am you're paid only 4 dollars working back breaking work till it opens at 10am. The division of labor is horrendous, certain departments get preferential treatment over others and it shows in their workload compared to others and how they are treated. They pay difference between departments can be a small or a giant chasm. You can be working 50 +hours and some one working only 30 and makes 2 times as much as you. Managements favoritism is grossly rampant and really unprofessional. Finally a really concerning issue is safety and there are many safety concerns. I've seen quite a few injuries to employees and customers including myself while working there and some were serious.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback - your Regional HR Manager and General Manager have reviewed your concerns. Our goal is to balance the needs of our business and customers with associate schedules and we strive to provide a win/win solution. Unfortunately, not everybody can be scheduled off when requested. We appreciate the tremendous amount of work our associates do and understand your perspective. Any safety issues are promptly addressed when brought to our attention. Best of luck to you, Angie Miller VP-HR

Good Employees, Overworked, Underpaid.

Pros

Leadership knows what they are doing from top down to lead the organization. They hire qualified individuals for the positions and offer training that will bring you up to speed on any current gen tech. Employees/Management actually care about each other and are sociable.

Cons

Underpaid workers on both sales and lower management. Starting wage is lower than everywhere and depends on if you are a good salesman but if there is no opportunities to sell there's no compensation offered. Management team is overworked at high volume periods and salaries aren't very negotiable. If you want to be management you pretty much have to assume your going to be closing a lot. The Front End is becoming like many big box retailers and using less cashiers as a way to save money but counting on efficiency to save them, yet the system is so slow that the money saved is costing more in repeat customers. MicroCenter caters to crypto currency miners. They saw an opportunity to sell all those graphics cards and raise the prices costing them sales from repeat customers that actually make the sales associates money.
