Pros

The job requirement is great and I really like talking to the customers and finding the right products for their current needs. It's really great to hear about the customer's life and talk to them one on one to get them what they need and makes them happy. Time past by really fast if you get a really good conversation with a person and going really good for sales and service. That's my favorite part of the job. The job is pay 4 bucks an hour plus commission. I work in the build your own department and the commission is pretty good if you are a good people person and loves to talk about computers and get them the service they need. So you barely get pay 4 bucks an hour and most of the time can make more than minimum wage if you are really good. Sometimes 20 bucks an hour and more depending on the two week period. We get pay biweekly.

Cons

The management is okay. I got accused of not working hard on the truck day which was ridiculous since it's my first month on the job trying to find the aisle. I understand I should work faster but I didn't know where some items were. So I was slow in the beginning. Three coworkers told the manager accusing me of not working hard on truck day. I wish they would confronted so that way I could have change if I did something wrong. Also, I asked if I could be off for black Friday since my sister's wedding was on that day and they wouldn't let me get a day off. I told them before I was hired that I have a wedding to attend to that day on black friday weeks before schedule rolls out. Manager told me to ask any of coworkers to switch to morning shift since the wedding was at noon. I just ask for one day off and they wouldn't even swallow the pill due to their stupid policy, BLACKOUT where you can't request any vacation or off days during the month of November and december. So I asked my coworkers to switch and most of them didn't want to switch which is understandable since it's black Friday where you make most commission. Also, the coworkers in my section were okay, but some of them didn't really like me due to me being a little aggressive on the sales. I was still learning in the beginning and most of them gossip behind my back. They usually give me the cold shoulder since I am a new guy and most of the people in my department have already known each other for more than a year. I didn't feel like I belong to the work place and it was hard to help people sometimes when you know your coworkers hates your guts and doesn't tell you what you are doing wrong and ask me if I could change. I'm a very open person, but the communication was pretty bad between me and the coworkers in my department. I sometimes says hi to my coworkers and some of them would either ignore me or they would tell rude jokes that got pretty tiring. The vibe didn't go along everytime I am there and was not involved in their conversations a lot. I got along pretty well with the other departments at micro center. Just my section for some reason didn't like my gut at all. Also, the schedule is very inconsistent, but it's a retail job. So be prepared to be very flexible or else this job may not be for you.

Pros

Handled newest technology. Met some good co-workers and some good customers. On a good day, was actually pretty enjoyable for being retail store work. Insurance was good at least last I knew. If you don't mind a shifting schedule it can be a pro as its retail, you know you gotta work weekends here and there. This does give you time to get things during the work week that are normally closed on weekends. This I did enjoy to a degree.

Cons

Being in service and repair, Columbus heads pushed us to be sales people and get people to buy things they don't really need while servicing systems. Sell backups, virus scanners, hard drive imaging, warranties on everything, ect. Upsell basically. Only really cared about extended warranties as these are made up stock. Doesn't exist. So its "free money" as they put it. Sell the warranty then the product we were told. If you could sell warranty on a pack of paper, you were a national hero. Pay was awful after 9 years and bonuses were made to be out of reach unless you had no soul and didn't mind ripping off customers.
