Almost a good job

Pros

Some good managers at the store level. You will learn a lot if you put in the effort. Pay isn't bad for retail, but very inconsistent. If you work harder, you will make more money. You can work as much as you want. Management doesn't have to work a million hours a week like most retail.

Cons

-Some disconnect at the corporate level. -Declining pay. -Managers are underpaid. -No real path to management without taking pay cut. -Brutally wild swing in shift hours. (they have improved on this some with no more clopens). -Sales staff is always given tons of projects to do and not enough time to do them in. Which means the time you are suppose to spend helping customers and earning commission dollars, you instead have to spend on some menial task. Then they harp on customer service scores and surveys when customers rightly complain they can't get help. It's a bit ridiculous. Sales staff should specialize in and focus on selling and taking care of customers. Not running around doing project after project at $4 an hour. -Sales staff spends at or over 1/4 of their scheduled hours during non-sales hours.

Pros

Great Managers Flexible schedule for retail Because it's commission, you get paid more to work harder. Company prefers to higher within. Real potential to move up.

Cons

Was hoping to make a higher salary, but the commission plan needs tweaking. Very difficult to make really good money in certain departments, while easier in others, even as a great salesperson.

Pros

Great pay and compensation for full-time employees. If you know about computers and technology, Micro Center is an easy job. It is commission based for sales associates, but the job is simple. Most of the customers are great and listen when you make a recommendation, as well as your fellow associates. This is a great job for people with social skills, since you will be talking to customers face-to-face. Management is very understanding, but they have limits.

Cons

To make a decent paycheck, you need to know computers inside and out, as well as parts and technologies from the past 10 years. It takes a lot of research and personal time to stay on top of the latest and greatest, and they do not always have the most relevant trainings. If you work on the sales floor, much of your paycheck may be spent here because of how close you are to the product you sell.
