Pros

Sense of team was nice, co-workers helped one another.

Cons

Pay was variable starting at 15/hr, meaning after training your pay could drop if you didn't hit a certain quota. You manned every part of the service area, counter, phones, and repairs. Repairs were fine to man but along with having to man the counter for sometimes half your shift it would stack up units within your queue.

It is great that you enjoyed the teamwork and your co-workers while you worked at Micro Center. Let me state that $15 per hour was the base pay, which means your pay would not be less than $15. Our techs make base plus commission which gives them the potential to make $20-$30 per hour, even more depending on how productive they are. You can also make 10% for each item sold from the Super Six, excluding data recovery. In the past we did have Knowledge Experts that were dedicated to the Service Counter, however the potential to earn more money was not present, hence the Service Department was not making money. We wish you all the best in your new endeavors. Sincerely, Leslie Whitley Regional HR.

Pros

Pay is great for retail with room to grow in different departments. Associates get to interact with a variety of customer types, from small business clients to professional e sports gamers. Work hours can be flexible if you're part time. Full time benefits are excellent and affordable. Corporate seems open to upward mobility of associates provided they relocate out of California to the Ohio office.

Cons

Management doesn't have an overarching strategy for the store, high level decisions are often contradictory. Some aspects of the store redesign have made working here more difficult. "Full time" entails open availability from open to close 7 days a week. Managers have the automated tools to schedule preferred days for associates, but upper management refuses to do so.

Pros

Plenty of free easy shopping center parking. PERIOD - nothing else.

Cons

Let me list SOME: Poor pay ($4 per hr + 2% of sales + 10% for protection plans) - Do the math, you need to sell thousands if you want good pay. I will tell you this, you will never that much. They want you to watch for shoplifters because the company is CHEAP (even a craft store that is next door, that really does not carry expensive items, hires an off duty state cop), you get paid ONLY $4 /hr for 2hrs in the morning shift (don't work morning shifts cause you will only make $8 !!!!), they require constant facing of products on shelves and stocking of shelves, no internal promotions to other deptmts unless you can sell a lot and will require inter-dept reassessment, constant manager & customer kissing, store meetings almost always concern selling more, plans & store numbers and store ranking against other locations, ALL management AND home office have NO close interpersonal relations with the employees - always distant. That's some of the major cons.

We would like to thank you for more than 10 years of service. We also appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns with us. Without knowing the store/location you are referring to we cannot address your concerns with management. I would encourage you to reach out to your location leaders with your listed cons to better understand the following... 1) your compensation plan, 2) an associate's role in securing the merchandise, and 3) the requirement for promotion at your location. Once again, since you didn't list your location, we cannot discuss with management the lack of interpersonal relationships. In most cases you have a District Manager and a Regional HR to address your concerns, if your concerns are not being met at the location level. Please take the time to communicate your concerns to make a better environment for everyone. Sincerely, Leslie Whitley, Regional HR.
