Pros

- Easy to acquire with little to no experience - Competitive pay for the retail sales industry - Uncapped Commission - Shared interests with the people you work with - Working with Computers - Easy Semi-Professional experience for people looking for a stepping stone - Some Sales Training

Cons

- Sales Environment can be toxic if culture is unchecked - Retail Scheduling is erratic especially with smaller department staff - Truck Shifts (7AM) - Low Base Pay (4$/HR in almost every location) - Commission schedule works against helping customers who aren't looking to spend much and want a good bit of your time. - No great opportunity to move up - Management inconsistencies

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We strive to foster a supportive and friendly work environment. While our sales associates do have a base rate of $4.00 per hour, their total earnings consider both their commission and base pay to determine their hourly rate over a two-week pay period. Right now, our General Sales associates are averaging about $21.00 per hour throughout the company. We continuously evaluate compensation structures and are committed to offering competitive wages and benefits, including commission opportunities that can significantly impact overall earnings. We understand your concerns regarding management and the suggestions you’ve made. We will take your feedback into consideration and will be reviewing our internal leadership and management processes. We're committed to continuous improvement and encourage you to reach out to share specific details so we can address concerns directly. Best - Jennifer Rex - Senior HR Generalist – 614.850.3153

Pros

Good pay if you understand how to exploit the system Honestly, at my store, 90% of the staff are great to work with GM is honestly very caring and understanding

Cons

Zero work-life balance Inconsistent management behaviour and structure Inconsistent scheduling and "AI scheduling" Rule changes that can happen at random with no home office input theft of work tools being very rampant and not cared about A repair queue system that does not work as it promotes slapdash repairs with little to no care if the unit is repaired or not and a " priority care" system that loses benefits every other week

Thank you for sharing your perspective on your time as a Technician at Micro Center. We appreciate you highlighting positive aspects like good pay and the great team environment. As a retail organization, it’s important that we be able to serve our customers and we schedule accordingly. We recognize that retail scheduling, with its varied shift times driven by customer demand, can present challenges to work-life balance, and we aim to provide flexibility where possible. We've also taken note of your feedback regarding management consistency, tool security, and our repair queue system. We are continuously working to improve our operations and workplace experience, and we value all feedback as we strive to do so. Best - Jennifer Rex - Senior HR Generalist – 614.850.3153

Pros

When it comes to both management as well as co-workers, I feel as if everyone is very supportive and very welcoming, which is something that is rare to find in customer service jobs. I feel as if I grow daily in this company and have not had days where I had a sense of dread because I had to come in to work.

Cons

When starting out at this job, there is a boat load of info and information that you will have to wrap your head around at the beginning. It may get you nervous at first because of how complex their system seems on the outside, plus being expected by customers to have some knowledge on the items that are being bought, which there are a plethora of different product categories to know about. Take the learning step by step slowly and you will start to overcome this however.
