Thanks for the 5-star review. It's great to hear you enjoyed working with Micro Center in Brooklyn. We have incentives in place to help our CSRs add to their base salary. With 5 stores in the NYC area, we review internally for promotions before turning outside the company. All the best to you in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Leslie Whitley Regional HR.

Pros

Everyone has been super nice and welcoming! Training and learning how to do my job was not too bad and was taught in a way that made everything easier.

Cons

It was not very easy to balance all the tasks that you have during a transaction. This means ensuring that you scan all the items in correctly, put anything valuable under the counter (and don't forget about them), and most importantly make sure you are nice and welcoming to the customer. These tasks eventually become habits, but it was certainly a learning curve.

This is great to hear and thank you for the 5-star review! Repetitious makes things easier, so the more you do something it does become habit-forming. Glad you are enjoying your time at Micro Center and the management team is supporting you. Keep up the good work. Sincerely, Leslie Whitley Regional HR.

Pros

You will learn how to sell and be great at customer service. It's easy to stand out as an excellent employee because there are so many apathetic coworkers and lots of turnover.

Cons

Commission salespeople are sometimes asked to do work at a reduced rate of pay that isn't sales and doesn't yield commission. Not cool.

5 Stars, thanks for taking the time to let us know about your time with Micro Center. The training our associates receive is best-in-class. The Madison Heights store has won awards for its training and has an outstanding 100% completion rate for 9 years running. At Madison Heights, it might have seemed that there was a lot of turnover but compared to other retailers, Micro Center’s turnover is very low. Company-wide turnover is 48.7%, and the Madison Heights store has done a great job and has reduced its turnover considerably in the last 2 years. As you pointed out Micro Center has a commissioned sales model for their sales associates. Commissioned sales associates have things that need to be done to help them maximize their earning potential, such as vendor training, merchandising, and manager 1-on-1’s. Currently, our sales associates at the Madison Heights store are making an average of 28.01 an hour as a result. The Systems Department is currently averaging 31.78. Finally, our company has allocated dedicated resources and training to develop our store leaders, which we will continue to enhance moving forward. I wish you success in the future and Happy Holidays. Best, Greg Nicolai -Regional HR Manager – 513-344-8018
