Pros

Fully remote and flexible timing.

Cons

Their contract is does not specify your designation, hours, pay, mode of payment, nature of employment e.g. Contract, fulltime or part time. They have a 30 day notice period in the contract. The pay is so low at only 0.4 dollars per annotation and the most you're able to do while meting their quality standards is 20 annotations a day. They first approached us saying we will be paid 5 dollars an hour and then sent another email saying we have another opportunity which you can apply for instead which was the same exact one and had no compensation info. Tantamount to modern day slavery. The CEO Ali Ansari pokes his nose into the Slack threads regularly. There are some projects that pay better than this role at Micro1 but overall the company is exploitative and treats you very unfairly.

Pros

Flexible remote setup, timely payments, helpful team communication, clear task guidelines, and exposure to AI-related work.

Cons

Low payment rate (only $0.40 per task), and although the team often claims they are working to increase the rate, no action has ever been implemented. They only seem to consider the top 15 performers in the annotation team—some reportedly making 1,600 tasks or more per week—without transparency or investigation into how it's realistically possible to complete 1,600 tasks weekly when each task can take 10–30 minutes? Meanwhile, the majority of workers struggle to meet quotas like 500 tasks or more and are often overlooked. The company appears to disregard the concerns and difficulties of most annotators because the top 15 performers are used as a benchmark, even though they do not advocate for better pay for everyone.
