Pros

Boise. The only reason to work for Micron Technology is the community of Boise is an exceptional place to live with access to the beautiful foothills, fun and friendly downtown, and better than average cultural activities. Micron used to be a culture of promote from within and a 'go get 'em' attitude but this has changed as the business has steadily declined. Team-members for the most part are friendly and share a western hard-work ethic that is taken advantage of by senior management. Micron's non-Boise JV's and global partners continually outperform the Boise sites that are bogged down with senior managers from the 'good ole boy network' and are incapable of keeping up with industry trends.

Cons

The business is poorly run with few values that employees can cling to for direction. Micron as a whole undercuts its sharpest minds by requiring them to work extraordinary long hours with little praise and little hope of advancement. While a very diverse company, especially in R&D, it undercuts this with talk over the cubicle wall of the most right-wing ranting Idaho can produce, making its international employees feel less at home. The last few years stock price and productivity, where even in quarters where its competitors were making strategic advances and profits Micron continued to decline, show that it is mismanaged and requires new management to turn its profitability around before it cannot continue operations on credit.

Ongoing Discrimination, Unequal Pay, and Quiet Layoffs

Pros

• Any small positives are completely overshadowed by the company’s toxic culture and unethical practices. • There’s nothing meaningful that outweighs the serious issues present.

Cons

• Significant issues with gender discrimination, including pay inequities and unequal opportunities for advancement that leadership has been made aware of but failed to address. • *Active quiet layoff in progress* — employees are being offered relocation or severance without transparency, while leadership avoids acknowledging what's really happening. • Employee concerns are minimized or ignored, even when raised through official channels. Investigations into serious issues often result in retaliation or pressure to leave. • Trust in leadership is virtually nonexistent, and morale continues to decline.

Company is going downhill and employees are treated like they’re worthless

Pros

Decent salary, previously good work life balance.

Cons

Company’s initiative to force all employees including previously remote employees back in office for 4 days a week and calling it a “flexible work assignment” is insulting. There’s absolutely no flexibility and their reasoning being “increased productivity” is ridiculous. Employee disabilities are completely disregarded, and they’re basically threatening to fire us if we don’t come back in. They’re tracking the time we spend in office as though we’re children. The value that we bring to the company is completely ignored and all they care about is office head count.
