Pros

Short commute from my home

Cons

Nepotism Favoritism Hourly employees have to punch time clock,, so they are basically chained to their desk, while Salary employee's come and go as they please. Basic daily hours are 8:00-4:30 for EVERYONE, salary people rarely exceed 40 hr work week yet still get salary perks. While hourly employees, since they punch, they are at office full day, while salary people leve early, extra long lunches, etc. Merit increases are pre-determined, regardless if you "just get by" or if you "exceed expectations", so after awhile the hard working employees figure what is the point since they are not compensated for their good work over past year. Eventually the good people leave.

Pros

Salary, benefits, students and facilities

Cons

The administration is ridiculously under qualified and do not care at all what the faculty think. They make knee-jerk reactions and then scramble to have other people fix things. Lies are a way of life here and I 100% KNOW that people have lied and will continue to lie and corroborate stories to save their own butts. The culture is a nightmare. The only reason most of us are still here is because we don't have anywhere else to go.

Badly needs new management and ideas

Pros

Very predictable schedule and low stress. Working in an education environment can be rewarding at times. Some of the people who worked in my department were great to work with and great people overall.

Cons

Zero chances for upward mobility. Even with all positive reviews, tiny 'merit based' raises (under 2 percent most years). Lower level employees do all of the actual work, department managers are useless and only function to defend their jobs they've had for decades. President/CEO (by the way, what other school's President also calls themselves the CEO??) is a tyrant who every department manager is somehow terrified of, so they go along with whatever backwards ideas she has. Handled COVID horrendously, completely changing work situation and rules around work from home and safety on an almost weekly basis in 2020. HR will vehemently defend the President/CEO's constantly changing whims at employee's expense.
