Pros

If your looking for a place that allows you to drive your own carrier, meaning if you want to grow and move up in your field then Milgard give those who ask and show desire the opportunities. There are also lots of employees that have been in the same role for many years and quite happy to be here. The company is always adjusting to match the market, this can be challenging for some folks, while other excel in that environment. As a long team employee, Milgard has been one of the best company's I have worked for.

Cons

Milgard is on it second transition of Parent Company Ownership. Moving from being privately owned, in 2001 was sold to MASCO, and in 2019 sold to MI. Each change has brought expected, as well as unexpected change, but that is just the way with our business. As a MI Team Member working at Milgard some changes have made us better, while others can be hard to understand and not well explained by leadership. The best example is the Benefit's Package (cost increase with program reductions or eliminations), 401k program (going to 3rd program manager in two years, the second cost most Milgard employees money in their plans, and the company match is less). Change is always a constant at MI/Milgard, I have see a lot in my years, and know there is more to come.

Pros

Employee appreciation, good people to work with, family business, benefits (pto/vacation sick pay, move up/promotion potential) health care (vision dental, medical) progressive leadership. Fast pace high throughput -always something to do

Cons

Weekends seldom but are required. Taking time off can sometimes lead to high backlog requiring OT to catch up. Vacation accrual is a bit weak, 80 hrs a year after 1 year, and then 7 years until next bump to 120 hours and 7 more years after that to next level 40 more hours
