Pros

How to get Promotions and bonuses is transparent. If you are driven to “move up” to a consultant and build a client base, you can be well compensated.

Cons

If you do not want to be a consultant or build a client base, and instead just want to be a team player who does good work, you will end up with a large amount of responsibility and a pay that does not reflect that

Monday-Morning Quarterbacks

Pros

-good salary, unique projects -able to "disconnect" when the workday is over, little to no need to work overtime -bonuses based on billable hours, however, please reference the con below -decent health insurance -fully remote

Cons

-no training or communication as to expectations on assignments and subsequent Monday-morning-quarterbacking and micromanagement. Requests for assistance are deemed as "inefficient" and there are severe delays in management responses *if* anyone responds to your request. Advised to sit idle until a response is received. -logging billable hours, again with Monday-morning-quarterbacking as to how long assignments *should have* taken, management has the final say on this -no consistency on workload -15 days of PTO which must be *earned* in order to use them -Having to put corporate expenses (plane tickets, hotels, meals, etc.) on personal credit cards and waiting over a month to be reimbursed -takes many years (5-6) to be fully vested

Pros

You learn a lot - thats it - thats the only pro.

Cons

Bad working hours, no formal training provided, no help provided, basically youre expected to learn everything by yourself and then the senior consultants yell at you if you arent competent enough in one month (because they never taught you anything). Horrible employee retention and they cut off your client hours if they think you took too much time to complete a task (which again, is because they never taught you anything). You constantly feel rushed for producing reports, making bonuses and the seniors make you feel incompetent. A few managers have 0 emotions and do not consider work-life balance.
