Okay place just out of college
Pros
Since the Merck acquisition, there have been substantial investments made in the facilities and equipment. The benefits are industry standard and job security is really good. Depending on the facility, there is the opportunity to be exposed to a wide variety of different processes and instrumentation. Good resume builder. A good bunch of scientists to work with (for the most part).
Cons
No effort is made to retain Top talent. Most people treat the company as ‘sigma university’ due to the pay being quite low. It can be difficult to advance your career here. Do your 2 years and move on in order to gain salary and scientist level. Management seems to have ADD and changes site initiatives every few months. Many scientist roles have recently been reduced to hourly wages instead of salary and the flexibility has therefore been diminished; minimizing the incentives to stay for the low pay.
