When Sigma was sold to Merck, and Boston-based Millipore was chosen to be it’s North American headquarters, all hell broke loose. Whoever chose to stay to the bitter end, earned the severance packages by being severely ignored and mistreated by the Millipore based management. They didn’t treat us as coworkers, but as competitors. Did I mention that they were clueless? Being ones a company many times smaller and inferior to Sigma, they didn’t know how to manage such a big and sophisticated structure. They knew it too, and we were the scapegoats. It was very painful to watch our ones great company being rundown and mismanaged by incapable and insecure people.
