Pros

The people. The employees themselves are fantastic. They are really committed to the cause and have help make the company what it is. There is a crop of new leaders who have come in with strong backgrounds and ability to impact some real change

Cons

If you have ever looked at companies like this, culture and the people seem to be the thing they always build their platform on. However, if you peel back the layers of the lovely pictures and branding images you will see a high degree of nepotism, toxicity, and archaic ways of thinking. Don't be fooled by the Mimecast Way and the passion you feel, this level of passion leads to silo'd and compartmentalized thinking. It leads to a fear and a lack of change. This is definitely not a progressive company. In fact, it is finance led, and is being led in the wrong direction. They have a "no-ego" policy but in reality, if you've been there more than 4 years you can be what ever you want to be, to whomever you want to be it to, without consequence. The adolescence of the leadership, the horrid, toxic, and disrespectful characteristics of the finance leadership make this place a nightmare to work at. Peoples success are hinged on others failures. Teams are not allowed to grow, innovative approaches are not allowed to blossom, and diversity in people and thought are only talked about because they have to be. Sure, you get some free food, sure they will get you boozed till you can't drink any more, but what you will get from it is that your skill set and ability will be dumbed down. You will be bucketed into your org, you won't be able to be strategic, and the second you call out a "made" Mimecasters you are blacklisted. Its like its a social experiment for the founders and tenured Mimecasters, and the divide between them and the newer employees is growing exponentially . HR is administrative and have zero ability to impact anything. The leadership team are emotional and don't make decisions based upon fact, but upon their emotional connection to things They are not firm in their decisions and it makes it impossible to impact change. Overall, the people are what made this company great, and the people will be what destroys it.

Needs close attention to some departments

Pros

Growing company with ambitious products. Recent changes in Product management has seen a lot of positive changes within & in related departments. Directors of Product are picked from larger firms with ample experience and wealth of knowledge. Future looks good for some product lines.

Cons

Lot of bureaucracies and politics at play within UI related Product areas, delaying product delivery and engineers get blamed for the delay. Less or absolutely no innovation around UI. Substandard product managers with no industry experience handling UI applications, making decisions in dictatorial style, frustrating engineers, as a result losing UI engineers. Retention being an ongoing problem because of this.
