Pros

Job security, good benefits available (unless you need to provide medical insurance for your whole family- then it is ridiculously expensive)

Cons

Leadership is pathetically incompetent, communication is non-existent, favoritism and conflicts of interest are abundant amongst management. The best way to get hired is to know someone.

Pros

Nice benefits, great coworkers (for the most part), patient care is clearly priority.

Cons

Communication and cooperation between departments is lacking, management is slow to respond to poor performers or address issues. Leadership does not communicate upcoming changes efficiently. Job satisfaction seems to vary greatly from department to department- clearly this is on account of department leadership.

Pros

Generous benefits, dedicated employees, superb physicians, state of the art patient care technology, and great views from most offices/patient rooms. Professional growth is encouraged, and excellent physicians provide good opportunity for exposure to latest patient care treatments.

Cons

Leadership accountability lacking severely. Very limited advancement opportunities. For current employees, all promotions are limited to no more than 5% increase in pay, regardless of current salary/wage per hour, and regardless of educational advancements achieved. This hospital is the only hospital in Asheville, i.e. no competition, therefore they can get away with paying lower than market survey rates. Unwillingness by management to increase longterm employees' pay to market rates due to 5% rule mentioned above.
