Pros

Job security, job security, job security! Even at the depths of the market crash, nobody was laid off. ICMA-RC has plenty of money and they are very generous with employee benefits. 401k contributions up to 10% of salary. Very generous Spring and Winter bonuses that are cumulative (based on past bonuses, reviews and company performance goals). The work is pretty easy depending on where you fall in the ranks and the pace is relatively slow.

Cons

Same as some of the pros but from the opposite angle. The work is often tedious and not very challenging. It's very corporate and often alot of incompetence goes unnoticed because someone else slack is picked up by the rest of the company. As a web developer, you will be totally locked down and sometimes incapacitated by antiquated IT security. You will often not have access to download tools and software that could make your job easier. The approval process to purchase software is just absurd and by the time you get it, you probably no-longer need it. Also you will do alot of data entry and content updating.
