Hard work with an impact, but high expectations

Pros

This is genuinely a great place to work. There is a high level of ownership here, and people are trusted to lead meaningful work rather than simply execute tasks. Plus, the benefits + comp package is really nice & leaders continue to try and enhance it. If you are someone who enjoys building, problem-solving, and having real impact, there is a lot of opportunity. Senior leaders are accessible, supportive, and genuinely interested in hearing new ideas. This is the first place I have worked where leadership feels so approachable and open to feedback, regardless of level or title. The people are also a huge part of what makes the company special. There is a strong culture of respect, championing coworkers, and celebrating each other’s wins. The team is low-ego, personable, and made up of people you actually look forward to seeing at offsites. There is a real sense that people care about the work and about one another.

Cons

It's been said before but it's true: this is not a place where you can simply clock in and out of a traditional 9–5. People work hard here, and expectations are high. Because the team is made up of high performers who care deeply about the work, the culture can sometimes feel like it lacks breathing room, despite the best efforts of some amazing leaders. Work-life balance is still finding its footing. Leaders do listen, acknowledge the feedback, and make real efforts to improve, but it is not fully there yet. Onboarding and internal knowledge-sharing are also still evolving. That said, they have come a long way in less than six months, and I have full faith they will continue to improve. The company is very much still in its “toddler phase” as a startup, which means some processes are still being built as the company grows. There is a pretty even split between remote and in office folks. Depending on how you feel about either type of work, it can definitely be tricky.

Empowering environment

Pros

Your voice is heard, and it goes places. You have an idea? Shoot it. You have something that is working? Share it. Nothing goes unheard here. At a large org, you might share an idea and watch it disappear into a process. At Miter, ideas get picked up, discussed, and acted on. The distance between having a thought and seeing it influence the work is remarkably short. Cross-team collaboration. At Miter, you can connect with virtually anyone across the company directly, and that kind of access accelerates everything. Miter is genuinely exciting and energizing. There's a real momentum here that you feel from day one. The work is meaningful, the pace is dynamic, and it's the kind of place that makes you want to show up and give your best every single day.

Cons

Commission structure is something the company is still evolving, there's room for it to better reflect the effort that goes into the sales cycle. A fast-paced environment can make it feel like you're holding on for dear life sometimes, and that isn't for everyone.

Pros

I love working at Miter - it's the first time I've loved my job. The caliber of people, the mission, the autonomy each employee has to make the impact they want to, all of it has been fantastic.

Cons

I wouldn't say this is a "con", but I do want to note that it is a lot of work. Management has been explicit about this from the start though, that working at Miter will be busy, but also fulfilling.
