Mitsubishi Electric is a difficult place for the overachiever. New insights, ideas, and process improvements are not welcomed. There is a complete lack of communication between departments as well as from management. It started out as American run, but Japanese owned. The Japanese came in, like an invasion, cared nothing of the American people, culture, or business practices. They speak Japanese constantly, are condescending towards non-Japanese, and do not include American leadership in any of the decisions and only mildly in the discussions. Their behavior can only be described as retribution for WW II.
Management had no interest in developing employees. It is hard when they don't communicate with their employees. Promotions are only offered to the chosen few or those who make major screw-ups costing the company loads of money. I am confident that incompetence and being spineless are requirements to be a leader here.
