Pros

Free lunch/phone/benefits were the only pros

Cons

-A lot of downsides. Management doesn't care about anyone except the company and their business. Usually, ineffective managers replace a lot of good quality effective ones due to which the morale of the work environment is brought down. Was a good place to work until CSO Joe Bolen left and current ineffective management replaced him. -No one cares about the individual's career growth. There is a huge gap between the management and the research associates- they have no idea how much they are being overworked. A whole lot of favoritism which doesn't motivate employees to do their best. Poor management from upper level leaves lower level employees being overworked. If you walk into the bathroom stalls you can usually hear people crying out of frustration from at times. -New incoming employees such as research associates receive zero to no training from management. There is no appreciation or recognition to any work you do if you're a new employee- especially the contractors. Upper management basically will not care about the new employees and treat them poorly.

Thanks for your thoughtfully written review. Would it be possible to hear more in a confidential conversation? I would love to hear more about your experience and your ideas to address. We have put several talent development programs in place recently (in Research and across Moderna) and I want to be sure this feedback is considered as we continue to role out these key programs. Pros

There is potential for a new and exciting technology that could define a new class of therapeutics. The company has a few very scientifically strong Scientists and Research Associates that have provided the key data to make the unheard of deal that was made with Astra Zeneca.

Cons

The management is extremely arrogant and believes everyone beneath them is replaceable. They preach behaviors are just as important as performance; however, they do not treat their employees with respect at all. The CEO runs the company like a dictatorship and shows absolutely no respect for anyone but he demands everyone respect him. The CSO is incompetent and lacks the basic knowledge of how to run proper experiments. The company is growing but so is the negativity internally and the bad reputation externally.

Pros

Benefits. Smart people. Revolutionary platform. Strong pipeline.

Cons

Like others have stated, be warned if you want to work here. This is not a friendly place for working parents, despite HR and leadership stating it is. The expectations around being available to work have no bounds. The 70% in office requirement is strictly tracked (badge in and out) regardless of if it makes sense to go into the office or not. Me and several of my coworkers work with globally dispersed teams and have meetings at 6 or 7 AM and are still expected to go into the office. Even if everyone we work with is in a different country. Please explain this to me? For a company that literally became successful during the pandemic and with everyone working remotely, this policy makes zero sense to me. There’s no flexibility and pragmatism regarding individual situations. As others have stated, we are chaos. There is no internal strategy or prioritization of what we work on. Literally the CEO says we’re going to open a facility somewhere and the rest of the company has to scramble to figure out how to make it happen. Zero due diligence is done before decisions are made. I can’t even imagine how much time and energy is wasted by really smart people doing stuff that shouldn’t be done and possibly even doing stuff that other groups are also doing in parallel. Another concern is the amount of external contractors we seem to hire to do everything. Why wouldn’t we internalize good people with institutional knowledge and experience and save money at the same time?
