Pros

New, "hip", software company. Transparency the CEO brings into meetings. Fun events in office (I was rarely there to enjoy them though); periodic office massages, a "zen room", treadmills to walk and work, etc. Great benefits: vacation time, health insurance, life insurance, short/longterm leave.

Cons

Management in Client Services in awful. No structure, a lot of politics. The company is very new and immature, blind to the formalities and professionalism expected from clients- clearly going through "growing pains." Documents produced and circulated to clients have spelling mistakes and lack cohesion/completion. The educators are uneducated themselves. A lot of unnecessary micromanaging that hinders productivity, innovation, and growth. Negative work environment that mirrors a high school. Favoritism by management fuels promotions to positions that are often fabricated; thus, lack of ability to grow rapidly in the company unless they create a new position for you. Any new ideas recommended, or any initiative put forth is immediately squashed. You are to simply comply, which fuels lack of motivation/initiation. My initial drive to help better the company was greeted with a rude awakening that it is a big "no-no" and I should do as I'm told. Thus, why put in extra effort to be ridiculed when I can just do less and be paid the same?

Dead-end positions with no work/life balance

Pros

Snacks? The bananas are sometimes ripe.

Cons

- Poor environment. Loud, distracting, not respectful toward professional employees. - Not flexible at all: no work from home policy (negative attitude toward it from upper management), fairly rigid work hours. - Constant overtime is expected, not the exception. No compensation time is given. - Little appreciation or rewards shown for good performance. - Inexperienced management: most of mid-level and higher management have not been people managers before, and often don't know how to allocate time, resources, or handle issues that arise. - Draining worklife for people with professional experience. Too much expectation to help people with little or no office experience catch up, which takes away from peoples' own chances to grow. - Little to no growth opportunities, unless you're starting from a bottom rung. Even then, "promotions" do not necessarily come with raises, and the company is hesitant to invest in training or growth opportunities for employees. Management often seems concerned that employees will leave if they're able to learn skills outside of their current roles.

Pros

Free snacks, Lunch twice a week, little direction, no real call metrics or coaching. If you want to skate by and get some decent health insurance while looking for something real then go for it.

Cons

I was impressed by what I perceived to be a positive, energetic start-up environment. After about six months I realized that it was time to start searching for another job. There is no way a company like this will ever be profitable. The sales management team had the mentality of a high school popularity contest, and my direct manager was abrasive and often rude, and I was berated in the presence of other colleagues. There were some major HR violations that I experienced, yet couldn't tell HR about it, as it was glaringly obvious that my comments to HR in the past were not kept confidential. I would never recommend this company to a friend or colleague, as I don’t believe they will be in business long if they continue to treat their employees in the manner I was treated. Florida is a “right to work state” and It is quite evident that this was taken into account when this company was founded. If you are looking to join a great technology company with a positive environment and a chance to excel, I would suggest that you search elsewhere, as Modernizing Medicine is not that company.
