Pros

The culture at Modine reflects our focus on behaviors. We are expected to achieve the right results the right way. 50% of our annual evaluation is based upon behaviors and 50% is based upon achievement of objectives. Our CEO walks the talk and sets a great example.

Cons

Highly competitive marketplace forces tight cost containment and continual restructuring.

Engineering Coop

Pros

Modine makes a good effort to treat Coops like full time employees. For example Coops are given holiday pay after they've worked there for 30 days. Other than that you are given meaningful projects to work on and for the most part you are always busy. Quality equipment and software for the engineering department.

Cons

Lots of wasted time. The communication between Application and Manufacturing Engineering is poor. I can't count how many times I'd be working on tooling for a product whose design was already changed without notifying my team. Many times this was just the nature of the work, but it was frustrating never-the-less. The HR department is a revolving door. In the 6 months or so I was there I talked to 3 different HR reps. This led to HR not knowing company policies about Internships as well as not being able to build and maintain relationships with Coops. I know for a fact this led to many qualified people leaving and getting full-time employment elsewhere. Final point, don't expect a job offer at the end. Very rarely does Modine hire Coops at the end of their term. This probably is do to its financial strength right now but its something all new hires should be aware of.

Modine Manufacturing Response

We appreciate you taking the time and effort to provide your feedback regarding your Engineering Co-op at Modine Manufacturing Company. We pride ourselves on the fact that our Engineering Co-ops are given real responsibility and are treated like real engineers, and based on your comments we are happy that you felt the same way about your experience. We expect all of our Engineering Co-ops to gain meaningful experiences so that they can continue on as Modine employees or as meaningful employees at a different company. Our Engineering Co-ops have always been who we look at first for any of our entry-level full-time engineering position openings. We take record of the graduation dates and reviews of all of our Engineering Co-ops and present this information to the hiring managers for consideration for any entry level position. If there is a position that you are interested in and you feel as though you have been missed in this process, we encourage you to reach out to the HR team for consideration. We post all of our open positions on Milwaukee Jobs and our Modine.com website. We are sorry to hear that you felt the HR team is a revolving door. The HR group is built of individuals where the vast majority have worked at Modine for 10 years or more. Based on your posting date, you were hired when an individual in the HR team left the company. To provide a seamless transition and maintain relationships, one of the veteran HR members supported this position in the interim while filling the position that the individual left. The position had been filled and the individual continues to work at Modine. Both HR representatives that you had worked with continue to work at Modine as well, and have always kept an open door policy with any questions or concerns. If there are specific policies that you felt were not followed we encourage you to contact the HR team directly to discuss, as your opinion is valued. Again, thank you for your feedback and we are happy to answer any further questions or concerns you may have. Kind regards, Modine HR Team
