Getting experience in cancer research and get out as quick as you can

Cons

PI's have very unrealistic expectations from what is possible to be done in a certain timeframe. There is a tendency to think that you are being given a great favor by working in the company, so no room for promotion intentions, or a career unless you have a Phd or you belong to the biased ethnic groups that HR want to allocate for promotion to keep their numbers right. PIs and their wifes is an issue too, endemic actually, there are several pretty fancy examples of people making it up all the way up to faculty positions with some very unorthodox practices. There is a lot more to it but not really worth investing time.
