Pros

None that I know of!

Cons

Lots of dishonest people in this company. So many people making uneducated decisions. Great people are leaving left and right because of the decisions being made by management with little or no experience.

Pros

We used to be a small software company staffed with great people (a mostly young workforce). Many of those people are still present, which makes the office a fun place to work.

Cons

Since being acquired a few years ago by Community Brands, our company has steadily declined in terms of resources, service, and software development. Each department in our office is understaffed and overworked, causing a significant drop in employee moral and client satisfaction. When a staff member leaves, they are almost never replaced, hurting their department even more. It feels like an endless cycle of dysfunction.

Pros

Wow, I'm having a tough time thinking of any. When they acquired our company they sent us some cool swag, including a backpack I still use. And they allow people to work from home.

Cons

These folks are simply buying smaller companies, gutting their staffs, and demanding the people left behind give herculean efforts to cover the workload (even before the pandemic.) My previous company wasn't perfect, but when they got bought by CB, it went downhill fast. Every time someone quit or got the ax, they look at the rest of the team and say "well, we know it's going to be hard, but you all can cover the extra workload." You might lose 10% of your clients, but 90% of your staff. So you end up doing the work of 5... 7... 10 people. No raises, terrible benefits, no 401k match at all. Leaving CB was the best thing that ever happened to my career.

I'm sorry your experience here was like this. When we acquire companies, we do so because it enables us to better serve our customers. We do not gut staff because that undermines the very reason we bought the company. That said, there are typically a small number of positions that aren't needed when part of a bigger company. If you were in one of those roles then it is really hard. We strive to find an alternative role (we really do), but that also doesn't matter if there wasn't a role for you. The whole thing feels awful and I'm sorry. I do want to address that we also backfill roles when people exit. There is a delay in hiring for us as for everyone right now, so we've increased our recruiting team. I worry that you may also have been in a portion of the company where I would agree that leaders needed to communicate better and be closer to the real work required. We addressed that, but I agree that was a really frustrating experience for people on that team. On raises and 401K match - we absolutely do both. We increased our 401k match this year and kept it structured so people with less leeway to save could get the full match. Salaries across the board have increased with special focus on our more junior staff where we have made big moves. We also took important steps of ensuring internal promotions are at market rates and that we pay people what the job is worth, not based on what the person was previously earning. That's the right way to build a company so that we have great people, product and service. I understand your experience wasn't good here. Maybe some of this helps as you move forward to know that, outside of your experience, there is good work and the right things happening. We'll keep working to make sure no one else has your experience. SL - CEO
