Pros

Very passionate people (from the CEO to client facing employees) working to deliver value to clients and communities

Cons

Can be hard to get approval for things Need quicker hiring practices (although market is very competitive and they are acknowledging this as a problem)

Pros

It was a great stepping stone career-wise. Great opportunity to establish relationships with clients in different industries.

Cons

I left this company after several years of seeing the same old story: "we're doing everything we can, we're working on it". I started with Abila, and Community Brands' acquisition was the starting point of the company's spiraling downfall. All I kept seeing were more and more acquisitions (some were very obviously multi-million dollar deals), meanwhile CB paint a picture that revenue is suffering throughout the pandemic although quarterly reviews show they're doing just fine. 401k benefits were obliterated. Backfilling of lost staff takes way too long. and my team fell apart after my leave; at least 4 other very valuable employees left shortly after I did. Pay needs needs to be bumped up across the scale from starting to senior level (excluding upper management) pay.

Hi, I am the CEO and yes, I read every Glassdoor review and initial the ones to which I personally respond. I do not ask anyone to leave reviews and have made it clear to this organization that we will never pressure people to do so. We go so far as to make sure senior leaders avoid even casually mentioning leaving a review because that could be perceived as pressure due to the power dynamic. If someone applies pressure, I want to know about it and we will counsel that behavior - that's how strongly we feel about doing this right. We're thrilled with our revenue growth and have been making investments throughout the company accordingly. This includes investments in our people, with a third of the company receiving promotions or off-cycle salary increases in recognition of their performance. We've also awarded substantial spot bonuses to a third of the company (with some overlap with the promotions, but not a lot). No question but staffing is challenging right now for all tech companies and we continue to expand our recruiting capacity. They've done a great job with the team mentioned - it's a strong team and I appreciate their work every day. I wish you'd hung around to see it. The 401K match was reinstated in January with both an improved match and lower fee investment options. Something to think about as you are looking at M and A - those are real people that come and work at this company. They contribute both to their prior business and become part of this team with all their talent and experience. They aren't distractions. This isn't fluff. SL, CEO

Embarrassing

Pros

At first hire, I was surrounded by some really smart people. Without them, my “onboarding” would have been impossible.

Cons

“Onboarding” consists of being told to read a bunch of outdated documents filled with broken links. Low pay, laughable yearly increases, extremely expensive benefits, company dropped the 401k match “because of the pandemic” and the last 2 quarterly meetings declared we were doing great (but ooops! no time for questions!) but no mention of reinstating this benefit. High turnover at the upper management and C-level. Completely focused on sales and acquisitions with no support for overworked services employees. Sales will sell to companies who don’t really stand to benefit from our services, unhappy customers are given tons of work for free, and services team takes the hit for having low billable hours (because management promised them free work). Complete failure to backfill and/or retain existing employees. Company is hemorrhaging good people and has no real plans to prevent further attrition. This company is a Dilbert level nightmare of useless circular discussions, narcissistic management and embarrassing business practices. Avoid at all costs.

I’m really sorry that this was your experience. We also saw the issues with the outdated training. I’m not sure of the timing of your experience but we’ll take the action to check in with the team and make sure the concerns you had have been updated. The 401K match was reinstated on January 1, 2021 with an increase in the match amount for most people. We also brought in a new 401k partner to operate the plan that would give everyone more choices with lower fees. I’m sorry that you did not see the announcements. You are correct that we made changes in upper management when it wasn’t a great fit. Some of those changes included bringing in sales leaders that make sure we can deliver on our commitments. Based on your comments, you were probably working on projects that were sold prior to this leadership team, so I understand where you saw some projects that were a stretch. Bluntly, that’s why you saw changes in leadership as well as making sure that the leaders you work with on a day-to-day basis recognize how important each person is and reflects that in how they lead – from career development to prioritizing hiring as we grow and building strong onboarding programs.
