Pros

- Good experience to take to other jobs - Usually laid-back environment - Salary and bonuses were decent - Security measures in place to keep staff safe

Cons

- Working alone, which was nice if it was a slow day, but on busy days meant huge lineups of customers with the phone ringing off the hook and no chance to rest - No breaks, no chance to eat uninterrupted, often nobody to cover if you're using the restroom - Terrible work-life balance, always on call, especially in a management position where you will be expected to answer the phone whenever your employees have a question - Stores are always staffed with a skeleton crew, so if one person calls in sick it will throw off the entire district, someone will have to work a double or come in on their day off, sometimes even working at a store they are unfamiliar with - Very high turnover so stores are always understaffed or staffed with new employees, if a store is understaffed there is an expectation to work extra long hours as it takes time to train a new hire - Anyone with a car will be expected to work all over the district - Customers were often very unpleasant, shouting and even throwing things - Unattainable goals for the store, expectation of pressuring customers to take on more debt in order for the store to reach targets - The products/services other than loans are largely becoming unnecessary eg cheque cashing, bill payments, prepaid credit cards, which means higher focus on loans - Any competent employees will be pressured into a management role even if it is not something they want, and with that will be higher expectations of working extra hours, coming to the store immediately if anything goes wrong, and being on call at all times
